Would not recommend. They used a third party installer. I took a day off work for the install and they showed up with the wrong carpet. They wouldn’t go back to pick up the right carpet because the warehouse was too far away. So, took another day off. On the next day they brought the right carpet but destroyed my staircase walls.

The "free" carpet installation from big box stores is usually not worth it. They make up for it by charging inflated prices on the carpet itself. For a 700 sq ft room, you're likely better off hiring an independent installer and buying the carpet elsewhere at a better price.

When we got the first quote, the Lowe's guy said to qualify for free installation, we need to pick $0.99 up carpet and he made a few suggestions. We picked one for $1.12. For pads, the Lowe's guy said there were a bunch of options, ranging from $0.37 to $1-ish.

The amount of carpet they try to get you to buy offsets the savings on labor and comes out the same anyway. We did our upstairs with carpet from Menards and a contractor they suggested.

I made another appointment for 2 weeks later, they ripped up the old carpet and then refused to install the new. Was going to go through Home Depot for carpet installation. They were actually cheaper than 2-3 other local shops we got estimates from. However, on a whim I asked my contractor if he knew a carpet guy, he ended up referring me to a few different people he knew. Ended up costing me 1/3 of HD and the job was great.

No offense to you installers. I've used home depot for years, at least in PA, any carpet purchase over $700 comes with free installation and removal of old carpeting, padding and if necessary, tack strips. Not hating on you installers, just giving the OP another option if they didn't look at that.
