Euler equations of incompressible fluids use and en-rich many branches of mathematics, from integrable systems to geometric analysis. They present important open physical and mathematical problems. Examples include the stable statistical behavior of ill-posed free surface problems such as the Rayleigh-Taylor and Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities.

We derive the incompressible Euler equations for the flow of an inviscid, incompressible fluid, describe some of their basic mathematical features, and provide a perspective on their physical applicability.

We review the basics of fluid mechanics, Euler equation, and the Navier-Stokes equation. The stability of the solution is discussed by adapting Landau’s original argument. In this quarter, we wish to cover the some basics of turbulence in the first 3 talks.

To derive Euler’s Equation of Motion, let’s consider a small fluid element within a flowing fluid. We will apply Newton’s second law of motion to this fluid element. Assumptions: The fluid flow is inviscid (no internal friction or viscosity). The flow is steady (velocity does not change with time).
