Sep 15, 2020 · Probably an overkill I tried the big wire nuts and for some reason they didn't seem as secure, it was hard to get them pre-twisted nice and tight. May be someone can explain how to pre-twist #6 stranded to #6 solid, solid to solid, or stranded to stranded then apply the wire nuts.

Oct 20, 2012 · Also there was no 3rd 6 gauge wire. Instead what was matched up with the 6 gauge cable was only 10 gauge wire. So for the 8 gauge ground wire from my subpanel, I spliced that to the 10 gauge ground and also the 12 gauge ground wire coming from my main panel. I put all of this behind a two-pole 30 amp circuit breaker. Will that be OK?

Aug 26, 2009 · For example, my electric oven has a fuse that protects the APPLIANCE ONLY from overcurrent exceeding the rated capacity of the appliance, this has nothing to do with protecting the wiring. As long as the wire is sufficiently sized to match the breaker, i.e. #12 wire with a 20A breaker, #10 with 30A etc., that meets code as I understand it.

The 6 gauge ground wire does not satisfy #3 because the EGC path may not include a piece of plumbing other than the water pipe grounding electrode proper.
