It was founded in 2005 as a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical, and is now publicly held and traded on the Saudi Stock Exchange (TADAWUL:2380).

Designed to accommodate polymer complex projects, Petro Rabigh's downstream industries utilize raw materials to produce chemical compounds such as polyols, xylenes, solvents, and polymer stabilizers. There is also the Rabigh Plastic Technical Center, a facility managed by Sumitomo Chemical.
