To achieve the USAP science goals, NSF operates three U.S. scientific stations and the RVIB Nathaniel B. Palmer year-round on the continent. Located on the Ross Sea, Antarctica's largest station serves as a "gateway" to Antarctica for U.S. scientific field teams as well as the hub for most of the U.S. scientific activity.

2013年1月1日 · Palmer Station was established in 1968 and is one of three U.S. Antarctic stations governed by the Antarctic Treaty. Since 1990, Palmer Station has also served as a Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site located in a Western Antarctic Peninsula marine biome.
