Set in 1940 during the Blitz, the Pevensie children- Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy -were evacuated from their home in Finchley, London after German bombers almost destroyed their house. Although both the book and movie are excellent, I would suggest seeing the movie over the book, because I feel that the movie has more descriptive scenes, and it really helps your comprehension to be able to see what’s going on. This story begins with four courageous children: Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter.

During a game of hide-and-seek, Lucy discovers a wardrobe and hides inside, only to find that she has entered a magical winter world. She encounters a faun named Mr. Tumnus, who tells her she is in Narnia. Tumnus lulls Lucy to sleep by playing a flute lullaby.

Tumnus appears in the 2005 film The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Tumnus has light skin, blue eyes, brown legs, and a stubbly little tail. In this film, he is the character that crowns the four Pevensie children at Cair Paravel. He was portrayed by actor James McAvoy.

Edmund and Lucy bring Peter and Susan back to Narnia. When they all get there, they discover the White Witch has ransacked Mr. Tumnus’s home. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver find them and take the siblings to their home. There, the children learn that Narnia is actually ruled by the great lion Aslan who’s very good, but who’s been gone for a long time.
