2013年3月26日 · It's perfectly possible to reflow your motherboard, but you have to do it really carefully to avoid destroying it. Several things can go wrong during soldering: thermal stress caused by different parts of the board being at different temperatures, and chips getting too hot. The reflow soldering process is designed to avoid these problems.

I have a motherboard with broken PDC3094X (Potens Semiconductor) in VRM circuit. I cannot find the replacement with exact same parameters and the original part is impossible to get. I don't have a lot of experience in finding a replacement parts, so I have a big request for some help.

The two main problems with a soldering gun is the large tip size and the uncontrolled amount of heat that it produces. Nonetheless, it CAN be used to make a reliable repair IF you are extremely careful. One final note: there is a significant probability that your soldering gun has significant leakage current from the AC Mains to the tip.

One maintenance shop I worked in had trace repair kits. They had various sections of straight traces and different types of pads. Carefully remove any conformal coatings from the board, trim the new trace to size (about 5x the width of the trace works well for overlaps on each side,) and carefully solder it to the original trace.
