The Monkey Wrench Gang is a novel written by American author Edward Abbey (1927–1989), published in 1975.

This well-known book is a fictional account of 4 "environmental warriors" liberating parts of Utah and Arizona from evil road-builders, miners and rednecks. The book fueled a new generation of angry young environmentalists (such as Earth First!) practicing monkey-wrenching, sabotage for the sake of protecting the wilderness.

R. CRUMB subversive cartoonist and satirist, Crumb illustrated the 10th anniversary edition of The Monkey Wrench Gang. The book was released in 1985 by Ken Sanders at Dream Garden Press. Crumb's illustrations were also used for a limited-edition calendar based on the book.

2015年2月26日 · In the case of The Monkey Wrench Gang there are several editions. I know I didn’t read one with an R. Crumb cover. If a cover depicts an incident or character from the novel I will incorporate the cover’s version into my reading. This may mean I will disagree with it. “That does not accurately portray that scene!”
