The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat is a nonpartisan organization with no religious or political affiliation. This position allows us to cultivate meaningful relationships within our communities, and we are able maintain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive perspective.

Essex Steam Train & Riverboat’s 2 1/2-hour train and riverboat or 1 hour train only journeys begins at the historic 1892 Essex Station for a 12-mile, narrated round-trip into the heart of the unspoiled Connecticut River Valley.

We’re the only Steam Train & Riverboat connection in the country, with two operating steam locomotives and multiple classes of passenger service – Coach, First Class, a seasonal Open Air Car, and, one weekend a month, aboard our Caboose or Cabin Car.

The Steam Train excursion is 1 hour round-trip; the Steam Train & Riverboat combination excursion is 2.5-hour round trip. How do I get back to my car? All excursions are round trip and leave from and return to Essex Station.
