A cosurfactant is an amphiphilic molecule that substantially accumulates with the surfactant at the interfacial layer. Usually a very low HLB cosurfactant is used with a high HLB surfactant to modify the overall HLB of the system. Unlike surfactant, the cosurfactant may not be capable of forming self-associated structures like micelles on its own.
