Ensure that the bunker line between the main bunker manifold and the flowmeter is properly drained, by verifying that the pressure gauge near the manifold reads atmospheric pressure. If it does not, drain the bunker line and the pressure gauge should read atmospheric.

On most LNG ships, the manifold is drained via the spray header to a cargo tank. Check that the spray valves are open on one tank and that all relevant line valves leading to the tank are open. 2. Close the main bunker manifold valve as soon as the required amount has been delivered. Follow the defined procedure to drain the line, including the discharge arm (blow the line and/or drain the line back to the tanks).

8.5.4 Means shall be provided for draining any fuel from the bunkering pipes upon completion of operation. 8.5.5 Bunkering lines shall be arranged for inerting and gas freeing. When not engaged in bunkering, the bunkering pipes shall be free of gas, unless the consequences of not gas freeing are evaluated and approved.

Accidental leakage from the LNG /vapour transfer systems including the connections with the receiving ship bunkering manifold and with the bunkering facility should be detected by appropriate means. Arrangements should be made for: draining, purging and inerting the transfer system after completion of the LNG transfer.

EQUIPMENT MODIFICATION- DRAIN LINE CONNECTION FROM BUNKER LINE TO SLUDGE. The alternative test pressure of not less than 100% MAWP for annual bunkering and/or cargo piping tests are allowed, provided that a 1.5 times MAWP test of the piping is conducted at least twice in any five years period.

A good bunker plan should include: – an accurate summary of the different quantities and grades of fuel to be supplied – a plan of which bunker tanks are to be filled, which must include the type and quantity assigned to each tank and the maximum filling volumes – a schematic diagram of the bunker system and proper valve line-up
