But his were grass fed and he bred for grass to meat conversion, ease in handling, and good mothering abilities. The typical Angus body style has changed quite a bit in the past 30 years, and so has the grass to meat conversion factor.

Start with F1's then breed them Black Angus for a couple years, then breed them Hereford for a couple years. Keep 3/4 BA back and breed them Hereford, then keep 3/4 HH back and breed them Black Angus.

2009年3月5日 · I raise black Angus and they were a lot older than 2 months!!!!! Angus are a smaller breed of cows and I sell to feed lots at the 500 pound weight which is like 8 mts plus. Right now I am about to feed one out. He is 13 months, I will wait until he is 15 months and feed out for 2 or 3 months before slaughtering.

Though black doesn't help absorb sun rays much in the winter, as it is generally cloudier, and the coldest temps are at night. Would probably be good to have animal with more body mass, as that would keep them warmer. Which is why angus might do better than Dexters.

2008年4月7日 · No question in my mind, take the Angus, look for a weight 1200/750/525-500. feed it out on grain ffom 90 to 120 days. But the weight is just going by Angus standard need to eye the steer/heifer up , going on frame look at 14 to 16 months. also if it is more meat then you want I bet you will have no problems finding family or friend to go in on it.

2005年7月7日 · Something to keep in mind if you do end up going with regular cows - black cows or black white-faced cows (translate angus or angus/hereford cross) always bring more at the sale barn. As to how many cows/acre, it's better to ask around locally as conditions vary so much. Even then it depends on the quality of your particular pasture.
