TL;DR,if capped at 144, PC creates 144 frames, Monitor picks up 144 frames to show, pc frames aren't well synced = input lag and not so smooth gameplay,If uncapped, PC creates as much frames as he can, monitor picks up 144 frames, chances are, the frames the monitor picked was well synced = less input lag, smooth.

Apr 24, 2019 · Thanks, but I'm pretty positive 144Hz is enabled. 144Hz set in Nvidia control panel, 144Hz shown on monitor OSD (or fluctuates between 60-144 with Gsync on), 144Hz on UFO Test, 144Hz options appear in games, Vsync caps at 144 fps, etc.

Oct 16, 2013 · As to why it gets reported as 143 and not the full decimal or rounded back up to 144, I can only guess. Here is my guess: 1: They don't want report anything after the decimal point. 2: They don't round up, because they want it to be clear when they are supporting the NTSC standard.

Owner of a 240Hz monitor here. There's a noticeable difference between 144 Hz and 240Hz, motion is a lot clearer and mouse inputs feel much smoother and more responsive, especially in FPS games but you can feel it generally. Don't buy one expecting it to give you a huge advantage over 144Hz owners, it won't.

Dec 9, 2015 · The higher the fps the lower input lag there is. Best way to determine if you want to cap the framerate is by playing a game. Screen tearing usually isn't a big problem, depends on what monitor you have. Only time I cap framerate/Vsync is when a game runs over 1000 FPS, the coil-whine from the GPU is annoying and the temps fly through the roof.
