Minerals, principally gold, are now the largest single export sector of the Dominican economy. The Dominican Republic produces gold, silver, copper, zinc and ferronickel from four mines, making the country the biggest mineral producer in the Caribbean region. Major expansions are underway at the three major mines.

2022年8月10日 · The miners were reached on Tuesday, 9 August 2022 morning through a newly-dug rescue tunnel (Tunnel B), a whole ten days after they got caught underground after a rockslide, the Dominican Mining Corporation (Cormidom) said in a statement. The tunnel was dug using equipment sent by the government of Canada.

2018年7月18日 · Epiroc is to supply Corporación Minera Dominicana’s (Cormidom) Cerro de Maimon copper-zinc mine in the Dominican Republic with a new mining fleet as it transitions to an underground operation over the next few years.

The project is currently in the permitting stage for an underground mine. On Nov. 12, 2024, GoldQuest Mining Corp. announced that regulatory changes in the Dominican Republic will enable progress on the Romero Project’s Feasibility Study and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
