We are a nationally recognized Division in Surgical Pathology with the fundamental responsibility to promote excellence in the practice of Surgical Pathology by providing quality clinical diagnostic care for the Surgical Divisions of UTMB, the University Health Clinics, as well as numerous UTMB clinics across South and East Texas.

Experimental Pathology is a biomedical discipline focused on unraveling the mechanisms associated with human disease. This discipline examines mechanisms by which molecular, cellular, and structural changes are involved in the disease process.

The residents have a state-of-the-art surgical pathology suite with a large sign-out room and several multi-headed microscopes with digital screen projections.
