2024年4月3日 · Use Contact Precautions for patients with known or suspected infections that represent an increased risk for contact transmission. Ensure appropriate patient placement in a single patient space or room if available in acute care hospitals. In long-term and other residential settings, make room placement decisions balancing risks to other patients.
Precautions keep patients and visitors safe from spreading germs. There will be a sign at the door of the patient room that explains which precautions you must follow to keep the patient, yourself, and others safe. The sign also explains what information you should expect from the facility staff.
PROVIDERS AND STAFF MUST ALSO: Put on gloves before room entry. Discard gloves before room exit. Put on gown before room entry. Discard gown before room exit. Do not wear the same gown and gloves for the care of more than one person. Use dedicated or disposable equipment. Clean and disinfect reusable equipment before use on another person.
Follow all Posted Precaution Signs
Healthcare workers should: Ensure patient is placed in an appropriate negative air pressure room (a room where the air is gently sucked outside the building) with the door shut. Wear a fit-tested NIOSH-approved N-95 or higher level respirator while in the room. Mask must be discarded in trash after leaving the room.

5. Precautions Signs - SUPPORTING A CULTURE OF SAFETY
There are 4 main precautions signs. You will find precaution signs on inpatient units, outside patient rooms, posted on patient room doors, inside patient rooms and in the Emergency Department. Please note: The first step in all precaution signs is hand hygiene/handwashing.
Enhanced Contact Precautions: All staff must wear gown and gloves to enter the room. Patients should wear an ear-loop mask if they leave their room for treatment or testing.
