Garnet deposits are located in Udaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Tonk districts covering a strike length of 250 kms. Most important gem variety is found in Tonk district in a 11 km belt running from Kalyanpur to Rajmahal.

According to the Indian Department of Mines and Geology, the state of Rajasthan is one of the main sources of garnet in India and has rich deposits of red garnet located in Udaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Tonk districts that extend over a strike length of 250 km.
