2017年4月3日 · An inch or so above is a rule of thumb in most situations. Leaning trees (especially with size to them) should be considered candidates for bore cutting your back cut. That's something that takes skill and practice to do. Also, you shouldn't cut your face notch deeper than 1/3 the diameter of the tree you're felling. That's very important.....

2016年11月8日 · Thick tree area, easy to get a hanger if it falls the wrong direction I've been using wedges & trying to drop them to a cleared area & access to the atv. When I got snowed out , I was was on a hill but need to fall them up hill. 3 went good & one went totally wrong & down hill, (ATV winch , old back & legs to get the wood up , way more work)

2018年11月27日 · All kidding aside, it is a pain to carry around a tool to drop a tree, but it depends how many you have to drop too. There is something to be said about getting a tree directly onto the ground when there is limited equipment to get it out. Myself, I prefer a wedge because it kept the saw from binding if the tipped back while felling.

Might also look for a logger or tree cutter, buy them lunch for a lesson. Could also find a tree cutting service and apprentice for knowledge, may get both knowledge and wood out of the deal.

Use at LEAST an 8,000-12,000lb break-strength cable, and NEVER take on a tree that you don't think will work out for you. Learn the proper face cut (notch cut) and hinges for different felling situations, that is CRUCIAL for proper falling.
