2020年9月1日 · In this work, the structural, electronic and optical properties of Cadmium oxide (CdO) monolayer and bilayers with different stacking orders are explored using first principles calculations. Simulations assert that the CdO single layer is a direct gap semiconductor with energy gap of 0.811 (1.883) eV as predicted by PBE(HSE06) functional.

CdO is Halite, Rock Salt structured and crystallizes in the cubic Fm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cd2+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing CdO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°. All Cd–O bond lengths are 2.39 Å.
