Chitosan nanoparticles are the latest in the trend of nanoparticles used in dentistry and are becoming the most wanted biopolymer for use toward therapeutic interventions. Literature search has also shown that chitosan nanoparticles have anti-tumor effects.

According to our systematic review, the use of chitosan has shown better surgical healing of post-extraction oral wounds.

Chitosan has been utilized in dentistry for caries prevention, as well as in nano-materials to increase mechanical integrity, antimicrobial previously damaged tissue regeneration, dentin matrix, and to close the canal space during root canal therapy.
