It has been noted (accurately, I'd say) that modern factory-made hats in general aren't what they were half a century and more ago, so picking on Borsalino hardly seems fair. But the Borsalinos are generally more expensive (quite a bit more, often) than most other big brand hats.

2005年6月5日 · I just dismantled my third Borsalino, which was purchased in the early 90's. The leather sweat band states it is made of "100% blend of hare and wild rabbit fur." It is just an OK hat and I paid $95 for it.

The higher grade hats from Stetson, Dobbs, Cavanagh, Mallory, and many others will give Borsalino a run for the crown. However, even most of the higher grade hats from the US made in the mid-1950s or later are not in the running.

Recognized, however, that Borsalino, Barbisio, Panizza, the hat-makers from Monza have prided themselves on having used various mixtures for their felt, as well as those operating in Germany and central Europe.

2010年2月5日 · I recently have received four vintage hats. Three of them are Borsalino Alessandria Grand Prix-Paris 1900. One of the hats says 'velour' on the inside.
