2017年9月14日 · I'm getting a Z4 3.0 E85 soon and have heard lots of chatter about common problems with E85s, so I wanted to draft a list that covered the most common problems, how much they might cost and at roughly what mileage one might expect to see these issues occur.

There are quite a few items I could list, but these have been present on most cars I have seen. I have not included M cars as I have not tangled with any aside from test drives.

Between here, Zpost and various other sites I managed to get a picture of what to look at. 1) Rare cases the rack was damaged (very rare) 2) Pre 2006 cars suffered with sticky steering (BMW revised the grease and worm gear clearance) Mines late 2007.

2011年7月17日 · Great news - After presenting the NHTSA data to the dealer - the service Advisor checked for a SIB or technical bulletin to see if BMW had put anything out on the Z4 steering. He didn't find anything. he said he would contact BMWNA and get back to me.

2020年8月7日 · Yesterday the missus's Z4 roof would not close fully. I have the GapTech module which automates the roof. It would go up half way and then stop, 30 seconds later it would try moving again and stop. No problem opening though, just the close movement had the issue. The roof motor is already in the boot.

2017年8月14日 · I've recently purchased a '07 Z4M that had what appears to be Vanos failure. I believe it was the exhaust hub failure as I read about it on DR Vanos website and the broken tab. When I removed the head there was some contact in cylinder 1 with the valve. I am taking the head to a local machinist to see if it can be repaired.

2016年4月16日 · Went to jump in the Z4 on the weekend and the EPS light was on and the sport button was inoperable and I had no power steering. After taking it to my local BMW specialist they have diagnosed that the control unit on the EPS has failed. Has anyone else had this issue? Be keen to read about how you resolved it.
