Abyssal: Abyssal fishes are demersal species living largely on the abyssal seafloor at depths of ∼3,000–6,000 m. Mesopelagic: Mesopelagic fishes inhabit the dimly lit water bounded above by the euphotic zone and below by the lower boundary of visibly detectable light, typically at depths of 200–1,000 m.
