Atlantis (Ancient Greek: Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, romanized: Atlantìs nêsos, lit. 'island of Atlas ') is a fictional island mentioned in Plato 's works Timaeus and Critias as part of an allegory on the hubris of nations.
