The E.T. Rugg Co. existed for 90 years in Licking County, but there are very few people still living who actually worked there. The company started in Alexandria making horse halters and cow ties.

Not everyone, however, feels the same affection for sisal. Though it is still used in rope, twine, potato sacks and carpets, sisal is being steadily replaced by nylon and other synthetics.
