The RCMP says a rock slide in Alberta’s Banff National Park has killed at least one person and injured three others.

GENEVA (AP) — A huge mass of rock and ice in the Swiss Alps sent plumes of dust skyward on Wednesday near a village that authorities had evacuated earlier this month as a precaution.

The city of Billings sent a geotechnical expert up to the base of the Rimrocks Monday morning to assess stability after a weekend rock slide that crushed a house.

Another 14-mile Blue Ridge Parkway section south of U.S. 220 remains closed while work continues to repair another rock slide that took out a 150-foot roadway section in 2020.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is monitoring a reported “slow-moving rock slide” off U.S. 29 but said motorists have nothing to worry about.
