European natural gas prices rose in early trading as investors feared the conflict between Israel and Iran could disrupt a key shipping route. The benchmark Dutch TTF contract was up 2.3% to 38.77 euros a megawatt hour.

For gas traders, the biggest concern is that a further escalation could disrupt shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for seaborne supplies.
