The American Bar Association sued the Trump administration Monday, saying the president’s aggressive crackdown on large law firms aligned against him has chilled lawyers’ ability to litigate cases, especially pro bono legal work on hot-button issues like immigration.

The American Bar Association, the nation’s largest organization of lawyers, sued the Trump administration on Monday over its efforts to punish law firms it does not like, asking the courts to stop the president’s campaign against their profession.

The ABA is seeking an order that would bar the White House from pursuing what it called a campaign of intimidation against major law firms.
