Once upon a time there was a black bear in the Michigan woods. He roamed, hibernated, searched for food and did whatever else a bear does in the woods. But the world of humans encroached on this bucolic setting.

Today's feel-good story comes out of Michigan, where state wildlife biologists have managed to get a blue plastic lid off a bear's neck—some two years after they believe the lid first became stuck there.

Wildlife experts stepped in to help a black bear that had a container lid stuck around its neck for two years.
