Vector Capital assumed control over Corel Corp for a reported $133 million in 2003. The VC firm subsequently moved to take the company public in 2006, but retained majority ownership.

Corel Corp. has agreed to a takeover by Vector Capital Corp. for $1.05 US in cash, the companies announced after the end of trading on Friday.

After restructuring the company, Vector listed Corel again in 2006. But, amid another recession that again hit Corel hard, it once more took it private in 2010.
