On April 22, 2025, Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I P9372 made its triumphant return to flight-a poignant resurrection of a machine that was shot down in 1940 and painstakingly restored to its former glory.

Among the pilots who protected the Allies from the Nazis was Geoffrey Dalton Stephenson, whose Supermarine Spitfire MK1 N3200 was shot down over Sangatte, near Calais.

The Spitfire AA810 was shot down while on a mission to photograph World War Two German battleship Tirpitz on March 5, 1942. It was found in a bog in Surnadal, in Norway in July this year.
