身为胎儿医院的发起者，在新华医院院长、新华胎儿医院（筹）院长孙锟的构想中，未来的胎儿医院会成为新华医院的一个院中院，而随着胎儿医院的建设发展，也将在产科和儿科的基础上产生一个新的学科——胎儿专科。
