Neelix, the male, is 16 months old. He arrived alongside Sandi, a 10-month-old female. Both are considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

He calls the silver Persian cat Neelix, after Voyager's Talaxian crewmember. The cat ends up influencing the simulation of the actual Neelix, who audibly purs, to the surprise of the Doctor.
