The College Board offers AP courses across the academic spectrum, including in math, science, social studies, foreign languages and fine arts. The courses are optional and taught at a college level.
The New York Times, based on its own estimates, said that the College Board receives roughly $100 million each year in public money for AP exam fees.
The College Board expects AP precalculus to be a popular option nationwide and to make “the largest ever debut of a new AP course.” It will not have enrollment numbers until the fall, however.
