Police in New York City are investigating an alleged car bomb threat against Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, who is running in the Democratic primary for mayor. Mamdani's office in Queens received four voicemails from an individual threatening to blow up his car,

Zohran Mamdani is a Democratic Socialist lawmaker from Queens, known for his strong advocacy on housing, immigrant rights, and racial justice. Born to Ugandan-Indian parents, he’s one of the few Muslim lawmakers in New York politics, which makes the Islamophobic nature of the threats even more concerning.

The anti-Mamdani fervor has gotten so aggressive that he's received multiple death threats, including at least one to blow up his car — but he doesn't own one.
