In an edited bodycam video released by the department, officers spotted a man in the back of the building holding a gun pointed in their direction.

The officer had been sent to the restaurant to investigate a burglar alarm. The owner of the business, who had a gun, came to the restaurant without advising police, officials said.

Fort Worth police said a “gap in communication” led an officer to fire his weapon at a business owner while police investigated a break-in at the business.
