Sony’s new “SCD-DR1” Super Audio CD/Audio CD player is apparently the pinnacle of high quality audio playback – or at least we hope so with its $11,000 price tag.

On October 1, 1982, Sony released the first ever CD player in Japan. Seven months later, it finally arrived in the U.S., complete with a vast library of 16 available albums.

I'm guessing you'd have to spend more than $6,000 on a one-box CD player to equal, let alone better it." And audiophiles didn't even need to spend as much as $300 to get a PS1.

We're trying to remember the last time we even listened to a CD, let alone coughed up actual money for one, but if you still swing that way, next month in Japan Sony is releasing the D-NE20 CD ...

Compared to my other various toys (mp3/cd players). I liked the sound quality on this one the best. I like my toys to have no frills/annoying features just like this sony, But thats probably just me.
