Sep. 20—CHIPPEWA FALLS — The Irvine Park zoo has a surprise new animal, as a zebra was born Sept. 11. "I think it's really neat," said Chippewa Falls parks director John Jimenez.

In another sign that life is returning to normal, the petting zoo and pasture animals are back in the Irvine Park Zoo. Those animals weren’t brought to the park in 2020 because of COVID-19.

The Chippewa Falls Park Board has voted to purchase the coatimundi, lemurs, maras and porcupine in the zoo’s small animals building from trader Animal Entertainments Inc. for $8,500.
