Microsoft makes Windows 10 extended security updates free, but there’s a catch
Microsoft revealed last year that it will charge consumers $30 for a year of extra security updates to Windows 10. Now, it’s allowing consumers to enroll into its Extended Security Updates (ESU) free of charge ahead of the Windows 10 end of support on October 14th.
The Extended Security Updates program was supposed to cost $30 for consumers who want to remain on Windows 10 beyond Oct. 14.
