Thames Water, Britain's biggest water supplier, will find out from a court this week whether a 3 billion pound ($3.88 billion) debt lifeline can proceed, as its battle to avoid a state rescue continues.

The fate of debt-laden Thames Water could soon become clearer later on Monday. The Court of Appeal is expected to decide whether the company's plan to borrow a further £3bn to avoid collapse can proceed or whether it upholds objections from a small group of creditors and Liberal Democrat MP Charlie Maynard.
