The pattern of intolerance, however, was different: bradycardia occurred more often in the bisoprolol group, whereas pulmonary adverse events occurred more often in the carvedilol group.

One patient died of progressive HF before completion of the study. Mean bisoprolol dose achieved by the end of 4 months was 5.3±3.9 mg daily. Patient characteristics are expressed in Table I.
