MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A man has been charged with an attempted kidnapping of the mayor of Memphis after he went to the mayor’s house in a gated community and was later arrested with a Taser, gloves, rope and duct tape in his vehicle, according to police.

Trenton Abston, 25, was charged with attempted kidnapping after police said he scaled a wall to approach Memphis Mayor Paul Young’s home while armed with a Taser.

A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to kidnap Memphis Mayor Paul Young, police said. Trenton Abston, 25, was taken into custody on Wednesday after police saw public and private security camera footage that allegedly showed Abston scaling the wall to the mayor’s neighborhood.
