Hi, we were on a private tour but we saw many motorcycles and a few private cars along the way. There are no “roads” on the salt flats per se but I am sure there are general GPS coordinates available. It gets a little more complicated though if you then travel thru the desert but still workable

We just did the day trip because of our time limitations ...but "Red Planet" who we went with came highly recommended on the net & even by another tour operator we used in La Paz. Our guide & driver were awesome, very knowledgable and experienced, had the best day ever. Our guide talked about the 3 day tour and it sounded like an amazing experience. I don't think you can go wrong with them. In saying that, I have no idea about the facilities available on the 3 day tour.
