How close is this to Varedaro? Did you book a tour to the Reserve at the resort or hire a private driver?

If you are staying in one of the resorts along the Peninsula, the hop on/hop off (double decker bus) drives right past the enterance. You don't need to book a tour.
can we get good bug repellant there, or do we need to bring it from home. Are they open on Saturdays?

I would advise bug repellant taken from home, shops/(i guess pharmacies too) are very poorly supplied. It is open throughout the week so no worries there
