How many steps inside the caves. Thanks.
答:
The cave steps are limited, it is easy going. However, there are 274 steps to the lookout post above ground - these are more challenging.

I'm going to be blunt, so please don't take offence, it's a cave system and steep sloping valley cutting its way through essentially a cliff. The ground is rough going in places, with many places using steps just to get to the entrances. If the person with a wheel chair has people to lift the chair to get over the many steps, and obstacles. And their people are happy to lift the wheelchair user through some of the caverns then it may be possible to an extent. The caverns aren't like traversing through a series of rooms in a building, they are a natural structure that was dug out by its original discoverer. It can be a mission for able bodied folk to get into some of these areas at times. A solo wheel chair visitor is unlikely to get their chair to the entrances, let alone into the caves unfortunately. The official answer on their website is - "Those with severely restricted mobility or who are wheelchair dependent will find much of Cheddar Gorge & Caves inaccessible including the caves, the Cliff-top Walk and the Lookout Tower." There is a safety and accessibility section on their website that gives more detail.
问:
if it is still open now recently
答:
The caves were open when we visited in May.
问:
Are the caves open this month
答:
No I believe they are still closed, due to an ongoing issue with the owners we were told by a local.
