Hi Thinking of visiting the caverns, are there any other play area or parks near by? It's a long drive just to do this. Will have a 4 year old with us and a dog. Thanks in advance

Hi There is just a car park and a 5 min walk to the caves Thanks Keith
Hi, I would like to visit caverns; however, I do not want any tours, I want to just walk around on my own. I do not want tours, as my spoken English understanding is not great, and to be honest I find tours very boring. I am ready to pay the full price, but want to be just on my own. Is it possible? If not, can you suggest any similar place where this could be possible?
I'm going to the area with three children who love caverns and mines. But which is best?! Really looking for interesting colours and stalactites (to keep teenage daughter happy)

For stalactites and interesting colours Pooles Cavern in Buxton is better than the Castleton caves.
