Yes. They should be fine. There are two places to park. One is right by the visitor's center (it is a small parking lot so it may fill fast) - and that one would be very safe. The other is down the road (you need to take a short hike to the visitor center) and is really just parking near big trees. But I would still say both are safe. People who are there are there to tour or hike the area. You don't get any weird people just walking around or passing by. But with that said, just make sure and not leave wallets or money and credit cards in the car. Carry a little fanny pack or something similar that won't get in your way but holds those valuables.
