Hello we are travelling to Bellinzona on March 9th and would like to tour each of the three castles, I can see from the website that the Sasso Corbaro Castle is closed at this time and wanted to clarify if that is just the museum or the whole castle? Would we be able to still view / visit the castle? Thanks for your advice

I'd imagine that means the castle itself is closed. The castle is the smallest of the 3 and the interior is the museum. Honestly, the most impressive part is the view, and you can see that …

Is this accessible by public transport from Zurich airport? I have a 15 hour layover and would love to explore the area so any info on how to get here or what else to see would be amazing.

Hi Tara Very good question. The short answer, yes it is. By Train you get to Bellinzona in about 2 hours. There is a train every hour. On the way you will cross the Alps in the world longest train tunnel (57km - around 38 miles). Once you get to Bellinzona you can walk 10 minutes toward the center. In the main Piazza (del Sole) you will find an elevator that takes you directly to the main Castle (Montebello). From there you will have the view to decide wether you want to walk to see the other two castles or if you want to take the tourist train (Arthu) that would take you to the highest castle (sasso corbaro). From there you can walk down to the second castle (Montebello) (My favorite) or wait for Arthu to come again. The Castles visit may take you around 3 hours, leaving you enough time to catch the next train back to Zurich Airport. Enjoy your stay and get a Boccalino in Bellinzona
