How long and how challenging is the hike from the Ehrenberg Castle ruins to the higher-up Schlosskopf Fortress?

We were told it would take about 20 minutes. It ended up taking us 18 minutes and is about a half mile. It is somewhat strenuous, but the path is wide and you can take breaks as needed. We did the hike with our three young children (7, 5, and 3). We ended up carrying our daughter (3) up part of the hike.
Is this a worthwhile outing if it is raining? Or would the hike to the ruins and the walk over the suspension bridge become too difficult/slippery/etc.?

Late to the party here but it was a little overcast when we went up (October 2015). I would say that maybe the bridge would become more of a challenge as it is metal and slips are more likely. However there is no running or jumping on the bridge so I would say as long as you are walking at a "leisurely" pace you would be fine. I think it comes down to personal comfort in hiking in the rain. The actual path is quite covered by trees until you actually break through to the ruins.
